Contemporary Research- Emotional Vampires by Alex Box

These are some images I came across on Alex Box's Instagram. She created these looks that she called emotional vampires for Ilarianistri's fall winter 16/17 collection. Just looking at images I instantly connected them back to the Victorian era as they ave a very minimal natural make-up look. The slight sallow look under the eyes gives it a alight Gothic appearance. The skin texture seems to be very smooth and it looks flawless. The finished look has a shiny, glossy appearance. The lips are natural with just a wash of colour. This relates back to the nineteenth century as they had natural lips and not strong bold lips.

The slight dark colour on the eye relates the to the Gothic side. In the top left picture, she has used a tint of yellow and red just in the corner of the eyes. While on the top lid it seems like a light soft colour and a burgundy/brown colour at the bottom. The brown also seems to be in the crease of the eye lid. The yellow used in the inner corner of the eye gives the whole look a very pale complexion as if she was sad or ill. Hence, I think why Alex Box must have named this look the emotional vampire. Just the shadows under the eye give an emotional or illness expression. I was really inspired from these images and will try including the colours of the shadows in my final look as I really love the look of it.
